San Diego Photoshoot Locations


Over the years I have been doing on location photo shoots in San Diego I have gathered a nice list of places throughout San Diego County.


Downtown Parks

Located inside Balboa Park are some very beautiful garden areas, such as: The Zoro Garden also known as Butterfly Garden. Always maintained year round the Zoro Garden features stone stairways, large tree and a wide variety of colorful flowers. 



Alcazar Garden located near the museum of man this garden area is rotated on a seasonal basis. Depending on the time of year the flower arrangements may be colorful snap dragons or a more low key winter greens. This garden also features great backdrops and is near some of the large Moreten Bay Fig trees.


The Botanical Garden/Building and Reflection Pond This is a key feature to the park. The reflection pond with swimming koi fish and beautiful water lily’s is an eye catcher.


The Organ Pavilion and tropical walking path. Another key feature to the park the organ pavilion can be busy at times but offers some of the most recognized backdrops in the park. 


Persidio Park located in historic Old Town also the home of the San Diego Mission.

Beach and Shoreline Locations

Coronado is a resort city located across the San Diego Bay from downtown. the Ferry landing offers some of the best city views.



On the otherside of the island is one of the best beaches in the united States. Its also the home of the famous Hotel Del Coronado.http://www.hoteldel.com

La Jolla Cove and beach offers a grassy area for picnicking bluffs located above the beach.http://www.lajollabythesea.com/la-jolla-cove



Sunset Cliffs  The area is named for the sheer cliffs which border the ocean. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a public shoreline park which includes the entire strip of land immediately adjacent to the ocean, as well as a larger area of undeveloped park and nature preserve on the south side of the area.[2] There are surfing spots below the cliffs. The cliffside trails are popular for walking and for watching the sunset. http://www.sunsetcliffs.info/  


Spots around Mission Bay

Paradise Point located in the middle of mission bay, this resort is lush in tropical trees, plants flowers.  With many eye catching features this locations makes for a tropical beautiful backdrop with beach access. http://www.paradisepoint.com/ 


Hilton Hotel Mission Bay, Nice bay views with walking path along the bay and beach.Fiesta Island, This is a dog park but has some very nice open spaces and bay views. This spot is great during the spring when the wild flowers and ice plants are blooming. 


East County parks and farms

Summers Past Farms a privately owned nursery and garden. This is a jewel that is beautiful year round. Flowers of course in the spring and summer are bright and colorful. http://www.summerspastfarms.com/  


Steel Canyon Bridge located in Rancho San Diego neighborhood is a great location for a family shoot, maternity or senior images. it’s very popular photo location in the east county. 


Flinn Springs Park located off old Hwy 80 next to the I8 in El Cajon, this public park offers some seasonal options for getting some great photos. The springtime can be nice the old oak trees and local wild flowers are in bloom. The fall and winter feature falling colored leaves, which can be hard to find in San Diego. Harry Griffen Park is a small local park to the La Mesa area. It may be on the small side but offers some great backdrops for your photo shoot. In the spring and early summer the wild flowers bloom abundantly in the back of the park. If you go over the walking bridge you will fields of purple and yellow.  


Campbell Creek Ranch This historic 48-acre ranch estate is tucked into a secluded valley in Alpine, bisected by the Viejas Creek and bordering the Cleveland National Forest. Stately oaks and mature pines shade graceful, rolling slopes and hills. Natural field stone walls further define the property’s boundaries. The gated entrance opens to a long driveway lined with pepper trees, eventually crossing a bridge over the creek and leading to the Southern Colonial main house.

Additional features on the site include a vintage gate house, guest cottage, large outdoor swimming pool and tennis court, barn, paddocks, corrals, old shed, and bath house. A citrus orchard, expansive open fields, large granite boulders, and the Viejas Creek add beauty & interest to this picturesque and versatile property.Although secluded and private, the Campbell Creek Ranch (CCR) is only two minutes from Interstate Highway 8 — an ideally convenient location for a film, TV, video, or special event.http://www.campbellcreekranch.net/
